Bottoms filed required paperwork to begin raising money for her gubernatorial campaign

Atlanta, Georgia – From the Atlanta City Council to serving as the 60th mayor of the city of Atlanta, Keisha Lance Bottoms has made a name for herself in the city’s political arena. Now she is aiming to establish an even larger presence on the state political level.

On Monday, Lance Bottoms filed the required paperwork needed to start raising funds for her Georgia gubernatorial campaign. As the current Republican governor, Brian Kemp, reaches the end of his term limit, many potential candidates are exploring possible runs.The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported that candidates such as Stacey Abrams and former DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond are considering possible campaigns. U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath and Jason Carter are both attending to family matters. State Senator Jason Esteves has committed to run for governor and be a recognized force against Donald Trump.Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced his candidacy as a Republican in November.
