Celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop with Whodini and Atlanta’s very own Jermaine Dupri

Atlanta, Georgia – As we embark on celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop, there are very few that can say that they have been there since the beginning. Decade after decade, not only watching but heavily involved in an ever-changing genre that has influenced the world.

The Hip Hop trio, Whodini, has been active since the early 80s with hits such as: “Friends,” “Five Minutes of Funk,” and the popular, “Freaks Come Out At Night.”

But did you know one of Atlanta’s very own, Jermaine Dupri, got his start with Whodini. Way before Dupri was producing tracks for Kris Kross, Xscape, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, Usher, TLC, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, and more. He was a dancing phenom for Whodini and can be seen in their 1984 hit, “Freaks Come Out At Night.” Dupri was just barely a teenager then. Now at the age of 50, Dupri has had a remarkable career as a producer, songwriter, and as an artist himself who is literally So So Def!!!
