DeKalb County Police releases photo of the suspect accused of animal cruelty

The dog abused in the Ring video has been found dead

Atlanta, Georgia – Mekhi Jackson, 19, is wanted by DeKalb County Police for allegedly being responsible for the abuse of a dog that has now been pronounced dead.

The person in a Ring video and identified as, Jackson, is seen chasing behind a submissive dog down a staircase of the HIghlands of East Atlanta at 2051 Flat Shoals Road. The person is seen beating on the dog and picking it up and swinging it up against the wall. The dog manages to escape the person by running up the stairs, but the person follows.

DeKalb County Police posted on Facebook Thursday, March 16th, that they have identified a possible suspect and needed the public’s help locating him. Wednesday afternoon DeKalb County Police later posted that the dog in the video had been found dead.

DeKalb County Police released an update on the condition of the abused dog and it was found dead.

Unfortunately, the dog in seen in the animal cruelty video has been located deceased. We have Id’d the suspect as Mekhi Jackson & are asking for the publics help in locating him. If you see him, DO NOT engage with him. Call 911 or DKPD Det. Watson at 404-286-7990. #WeAreDKPD

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has added that Jackson has had a history of violence since January 2022. Jackson was arrested for being the getaway driver of a drive-shooting at McNair High School. The shooter was only 15 years old. Six days after the shooting, Jackson was booked into the DeKalb County jail for three felony counts of aggravated assault and was released on bond two days later.
