MARTA Celebrates 50 Years of Hip Hop

Atlanta, Georgia – On Friday afternoon, Atlanta’s Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) held a Hip Hop anniversary celebration of its own. At the agency’s largest station, Five Points, patrons were able to take part in activities that celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop or learn more about the agency’s services.

There was a spin of the wheel that allowed patrons to win a decorated MARTA card of one of their favorite local hip-hop musicians: T.I., Killer Mike, Jermaine Dupri, OutKast, Goodie Mob, a “MARTA Swag” card with a radio boombox, umbrella or swag bag.

A display of two virtual reality tables allowed patrons to see what’s in store for the future of the agency when new train cars are expected to arrive in 2025.

There were also picture-taking, music by DJ Sed The Saint, and, of course, the interaction within Metro Atlanta’s growing transit community.
