Atlanta, Georgia – Major League Baseball brought two of Atlanta’s biggest icons together to battle against one another in MLB’s 2025 Celebrity Softball Game at the Atlanta Brave’s Truist Park.
Presented by GEICO, representing the National League was Atlanta’s mayor of Hip Hop, Jermaine Dupri, while representing the American League was former Atlanta Brave and 1997 MLB Champion, Javy Lopez. Both legends boast impressive strings of hits throughout the 90s and 2000s. Dupri created countless Billboard chart-toppers including Usher’s “Burn,” Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together,” and Kris Kross’s “Jump.” Meanwhile, Lopez made history by breaking the single-season home run record for catchers with 43 home runs in 2003, a record that still stands 22 years later as the Atlanta Braves’ franchise record for most home runs by a catcher.
