Westside Beltline Opens 7-Mile Trail as Ponce Streetscape Nears Completion
ATLANTA, GEORGIA — The highly anticipated 7-mile Westside Beltline trail officially opened Monday, marking a significant milestone in Atlanta’s ambitious urban development project. City officials and Atlanta Beltline leaders celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Washington Park, drawing crowds eager to experience the new pedestrian and cycling corridor.
The latest addition spans 1.3 miles and represents the longest uninterrupted section of the Beltline trail system to date. Photos of the new stretch, published by Atlanta Urbanize, showcase the seamless pathway that now connects previously isolated neighborhoods along Atlanta’s westside.
While construction continues on the southside portion of the Beltline, another major project is approaching completion. The Ponce Streetscape Project will soon deliver enhanced infrastructure including new sidewalks, dedicated bike lanes, and a pedestrian bridge designed to seamlessly link Ponce De Leon Avenue to the popular Eastside Trail.
Atlanta Beltline, Inc. has approved a substantial $242 million budget for 2026, positioning the organization to complete key segments before Atlanta hosts FIFA World Cup matches. This ambitious timeline reflects the city’s commitment to showcasing its transformed urban landscape to an international audience.
