Check your voter status before tonight’s online deadline for the November 3 election.
ATLANTA — The Georgia voter registration deadline for the 2026 general election is today, Monday, October 5. Eligible residents have until 11:59 p.m. tonight to register online for the November 3 election.
With just hours left, do you know your voter registration status?
First, check Georgia’s My Voter Page. The site shows your registration details, polling place and sample ballot. It also lists early voting locations.
How to register before tonight’s deadline
If you haven’t registered, visit Georgia’s online voter registration system. To apply online, you need a valid Georgia driver’s license or state ID from the Department of Driver Services. Alternatively, you can submit a paper application by mail. However, it must carry a postmark dated October 5 or earlier.
Applicants must hold U.S. citizenship and live in Georgia and the county where they plan to vote. You can register at age 17½, but you must turn 18 before voting.
State rules also bar registration while someone serves a sentence for a felony involving moral turpitude. A judge’s finding of mental incompetence also prevents registration.
Already registered? If you recently moved or changed your name, review your records. Then contact your county registrar if you need help updating your information.
Black woman nominee marks third straight governor’s race
Meanwhile, Georgia’s governor’s race continues a notable trend. For the third straight race, a major party has nominated a Black woman for governor.
Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is the Democratic nominee in 2026. Previously, Stacey Abrams won the party’s nomination in both 2018 and 2022. The three-election sequence refers specifically to races for governor.
Bottoms will face Republican nominee Rick Jackson on November 3.
Early voting starts October 13
After registration closes, early voting begins October 13 and runs through October 30. Before heading out, check My Voter Page for local voting sites and hours.
If you prefer to vote by mail, your county election office must receive your absentee application by October 23.
On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Use your assigned Election Day polling place. If you join the line by 7 p.m., you can still vote.
