Historic spot joins The Center’s Marietta Street overhaul, injecting downtown Atlanta with fresh bars, games, BBQ, and World Cup buzz this spring.
Downtown Atlanta’s 207 Peachtree Street is evolving from its days as a Hooters sports bar into a dynamic multi-venue entertainment destination. Just a couple blocks away on Marietta Street, The Center (formerly CNN Center) is also undergoing major remodeling to become a mixed-use hub with dining and events, promising a surge of new entertainment options for the downtown core ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Building’s Past
The 1920s-era structure at 207 Peachtree originally served as Regenstein’s Department Store before Hooters opened around 2002, drawing crowds for wings, games, and TVs near Mercedes-Benz Stadium until its June 2025 closure.
A 2017 facelift by Marx Realty highlighted its Art Deco details, setting the stage for today’s revival.
Meanwhile, The Center at 190 Marietta St NW—once CNN’s global HQ since 1987—transitioned post-2024 after CNN’s Midtown move, with $50 million in exterior upgrades blending it into the entertainment district near Centennial Olympic Park.
Fresh Venues at 207
RPB Management Group, behind Red Phone Booth, is crafting a 45,000-square-foot space with American Dive (BBQ, arcade, live music), Peachtree Sporting Club (sports sims, massive screens), rooftop lounge Aire, and a grand ballroom for events. Opening this spring, it honors the site’s casual roots while adding upscale twists.
Paired Downtown Boost
The Center’s May atrium debut features CTR Food Works—a 24,000-square-foot hall with 12 eateries like Latin, seafood, Mexican, Italian, burgers, plus the city’s largest bar—and public art for World Cup visitors.
These spots, steps apart, will energize Peachtree Center to the Gulch with dining, bars, sports viewing, and culture, revitalizing Atlanta’s core.
