David Rose – Husband, father, and rising officer killed while protecting the community
ATLANTA, Georgia — DeKalb Police Officer David Rose was a devoted husband and father of two, with another child on the way. His life of service extended beyond his home to the people of DeKalb County, where he dedicated himself to protecting and uplifting his community.
Rose’s career in law enforcement had just begun to flourish. In March, he graduated from the DeKalb County Police Academy, eager to make a difference. On Friday, August 8, Officer Rose was shot multiple times by a gunman in the CDC area while courageously risking his life while protecting local residents.
Colleagues and community members remember Rose as a public servant who loved his work, built relationships in the neighborhoods he served, and embodied professionalism and compassion.
