Former Tennessee coach Derek Dooley has entered an already crowded field of Republican candidates vying to unseat the “professional politician” Senator Jon Ossoff.

Atlanta, Georgia – Derek Dooley, a former college football coach and Georgia native, announced on Monday that he will run for the U.S. Senate seat representing Georgia. As a newcomer to politics, Dooley faces significant challenges competing against several established Republican candidates. Currently, other candidates in the race include:

Jon Ossoff was first elected to the Senate in 2021 after defeating incumbent David Perdue. Dooley, the son of legendary Georgia coach Vince Dooley, is positioning himself as a political outsider.
