Former Tennessee coach Derek Dooley has entered an already crowded field of Republican candidates vying to unseat the “professional politician” Senator Jon Ossoff.
Atlanta, Georgia – Derek Dooley, a former college football coach and Georgia native, announced on Monday that he will run for the U.S. Senate seat representing Georgia. As a newcomer to politics, Dooley faces significant challenges competing against several established Republican candidates. Currently, other candidates in the race include:
- Buddy Carter
- Mike Collins
- Reagan Box
- Christoph Chapman
- Christina Clement
- Rick Temple
- Vinson “Vince” Watkins
Jon Ossoff was first elected to the Senate in 2021 after defeating incumbent David Perdue. Dooley, the son of legendary Georgia coach Vince Dooley, is positioning himself as a political outsider. He promises to bring “Georgia common sense” to Washington and has labeled Ossoff as a “professional politician.”
